 The Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment (FMITI) has unveiled its ambitious Skill-UP Artisans Programme (SUPA), aiming to equip 10 million Nigerians with essential industrial skills to bolster the Federal Government’s industrial resurgence drive. Dr. Doris Anite, Minister of FMITI, announced this groundbreaking initiative during her address at the Ministerial Sectoral News Conference commemorating President Bola Tinubu’s first anniversary in Abuja. Anite highlighted that SUPA, spearheaded by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) in collaboration with the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and international certifying organizations, has already commenced training and skill development activities. The programme seeks to empower artisans with both technical and non-technical skills, providing licensing, access to vital toolkits, and promoting industry-standard excellence.  Germany has unveiled a new initiative termed the 'Opportunity Card,' aimed at skilled individuals residing outside the European Union (EU) to explore employment prospects within Germany. The announcement, made on June 1, 2024, through Germany's Federal Foreign Office Consular Services Portal, revealed Nigeria as one of the eligible countries of residence for prospective applicants. The 'Opportunity Card' functions as a residence permit, facilitating entry into Germany for individuals from third countries, i.e., nations not within the EU, to pursue employment opportunities.
